When I was younger I used to hear that Mercy is when we do not receive what we deserve, () and Grace is when we receive what we don’t deserve (Jesus Christ). This was a precious definition that I have loved through the years. However, I didn’t always see how to apply these two concepts in practice beyond having a thankful heart.
But, I finally got a revelation that helped me to better understand these two incredible gifts God has given us.
 

Jesus died on the Cross for each of us to become part of His body. Therefore, it only makes sense that the authentic Church today would still be built by Christ alone through His Holy Spirit alone, just as it happened in the Book of Acts.
This week, we will be talking about membership in the Church. The leading question on the table is: Do we have to become members of a local church in order to be Christians?

I think sometimes as Christians we don't really understand some of the things that we stand for because we haven't taken time to get grounded in God's Word about it. One of the concepts that have Christians so ironically divided in the body is what the concept "Church" means. So, today I want to take time to share some experiences of what church has meant to me, and then unpack what the Bible has to say about what it means to be the Church, or the body of Christ.

The presence, power, and gifts of the Holy Spirit that Jesus gave us after His ascension did not end when the apostles died.  The Holy Spirit is for today.
